Mistrial Declared in Pacific Palisades Wildfire Arson Case After Deadlocked Jury
A mistrial has been declared in the criminal trial against Jonathan Rinderknecht, a 30-year-old individual charged with willfully setting the January 2025 Pacific Palisades fire, the deadliest wildland fire in the history of Los Angeles, resulting in the death of 12 individuals and over 6,000 ruined buildings. This was after the jury was unable to reach any consensus during two days of deliberation. The prosecution plans to retry the case, claiming that the French-American citizen set a small fire on New Year's Eve because of his loneliness and hate towards the rich people. This claim is backed up by the iPhone location data, surveillance video evidence, as well as ChatGPT-produced images of burning cities along with prompts that show obsession with fire.
